Chickpea Snackers

I am so impressed by people who say they don't snack (seriously?!?!). My food cravings cannot be contained into 3 square meals. I try to mix up my snacks each week with apples and almond butter, or yogurt with walnuts and seeds. This week I will be snacking on some chickpeas and spices! They are the perfect way to curb the crunchy, salty craving I get at about 3pm.

Chickpea Snackers:
  • Chickpeas (canned or dried. If you buy them canned check the label out. Eden's are one of the few brands that doesn't add extra salt. If you use dried beans, soak over night and cook for about 30 mins)
  • Cayenne pepper, salt, garlic salt, chili powder
  • Olive oil
In a bowl lightly coat chickpeas in olive oil. Pile on the spices and mix to evenly coat. Put in the oven at 350, stirring every 5 mins. I like my chickpeas a bit crunchy so about 25-35 mins. Taste along the way for your perfect crunch factor!

There are many other flavor combos you can use on chickpeas. Here are some flavors I am going to try next!
  • Soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, chili powder
  • Garlic and rosemary
  • Honey, cinnamon and nutmeg

  1. I'm with you. If there truly is anyone that doesn't snack, they must have amazing self control.

These chickpeas sound like a great snack, and I can't wait to try them. Thanks for the post.
